Hi! I’m Jake, and this is my story. I met my best friend Jada when we were born in the same hospital. We’ve been best friends ever since.
But one early morning, I found out that Jada got into a car accident! She was unconscious, and when I went to the hospital, I found out she was in a coma. The night before it happened, I could sense that something bad was going to happen, and I couldn’t sleep. To make things worse, Jada and I had been fighting the day before, so when I found out she was in a coma, it broke my heart.
When Jada woke up from the coma, I was by her bedside. She said, “Who are you?”
I just couldn’t believe that after our years of friendship, she couldn’t remember me. I said, “It’s me! Jake!” and I showed her a picture of us on my phone from when we were on the beach.
After staring at the photo for a long time, Jada fell back into a coma. The doctor thought it was normal, so he said, “Just let her sleep.”
A year passed, and my parents noticed how sad I was, and figured that they’d get me a dog to cheer me up.
Cooper is a black, fluffy dog. Whenever I saw my dog, it was like Jada was here all over again. My face lit up when I saw him standing in the kitchen with my mummy. At only eight weeks old, I didn’t know something tiny could make me so happy.
One day I brought Cooper to the hospital to visit Jada. He jumped up onto the bed and started licking her face. Just then, she woke up, and tears started running down my eyes…
