An Usherette called Annie

A short story inspired by a story my Nannie (my grandmother) told me about how she used to work as an usherette and how it was a very glamorous job.
I've made up the characters of Lucy and Jo, but the parts about Annie not thinking she'd get the job, losing a fingernail working in a factory at 14, and the couple who used the nickname of "ducky" for each other are all true things my Nannie told me about. The photo is the youngest one we have of my Nannie/Annie
