Violet was reading a story in bed, on her own except for the fact that she had her friend, Oscar, with her.
Oscar was a tiny fluffy dog. She was just at the part of the book where Rex, the Lion King, was shouting at his jester.
He was shouting, 'Who do you think you are?'
The jester said, in a shaky voice, 'I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. It was just a joke about cats.'
'Off with your heads,' the King roared back.
Suddenly Violet heard the Lion roar as if he was in her room. Oscar, who was previously licking the page, jumped up and started barking. Violet looked around but there appeared to be no one there.
She looked down a the book and the Lion was moving off the page, getting bigger and bigger. Violet gasped and sprang back...
