Once upon a time Harry came back from his holiday (with a broken knee). He was looking for Barbara. He was quite on edge as he had just come home from his father’s funeral.
Upset and distraught, he hobbled up the path to knock on the door of the run down house. Clutching a half empty beer bottle, Elizabeth opened the rusty door with a little hesitation.
Harry was annoyed seeing that she was drunk, again, but what better option did he have? His dad’s death had been very sudden. Elizabeth, being absolutely blootered, hugged Harry and said, ‘Everything is going to be OK.’
‘Where’s me dog?’ said Harry rudely. ‘Go get me me dog. I want to go home.’
‘The dog’s up the stairs…’ said Elizabeth in a questionable tone.
‘Go get me my dog,’ Harry repeated. ‘I want to GO HOME.’
Elizabeth thought, this is just like last time.
‘That dog better be upstairs!’ Harry looked annoyed.
‘Come on up and have a look,’ said Elizabeth.
Harry followed Elizabeth up the stairs. ‘So, was my dog Barbara good while I was away?’
