Back in May, Great Lighthouses of Ireland and Fighting Words asked 7-12 year olds to create some lighthouse stories and become Young Storykeepers.
At the beginning of May Fighting Words were asked to take part in RTE's "Operation Transformation: Keeping Well Apart". Mark worked with the four families for the week, helping them to gain confidence in creative writing using different prompts and tasks. They worked toward writing one final piece each that they then read out on RTE.
Now in its 10th year, this year's supplement in The Irish Times features stories from all over the island of Ireland, from different groups of participants, in English and in Irish.

A joint initiative with Great Lighthouses of Ireland, by the time submissions closed on May 19th we’d received almost 1,300 superb lighthouse-inspired tales.

Home is Where the Heart Is: a very special Fighting Words Belfast creative writing project for pupils from five schools across Belfast, in partnership with New Lodge Arts.
Inspired by an interactive sculpture by Fighting Words Belfast volunteer and emerging artist Attila Szabo, P6/7 children met the artist and created stories inspired by Belfast City Council’s theme of (Y)Our Home.

After four years at Fighting Words Belfast helping to generate more than 6,000 opportunities for children and young people to create wonderful stories, Geraldine has decided to begin a new story of her own and will be leaving Fighting Words Belfast at the end of October.
THE RIGHT TWIG is an exciting new young playwrights’ programme with Fighting Words Belfast and the Lyric Theatre. It is open to anyone age 14-18 who wants to write for theatre. Come along to a couple of taster sessions and get in touch to find out more!
