Axel and the Surfer

Mason Fisher, age 9, Co Antrim

Once upon a time there was a very weird nineteen-year-old boy named Axel. He always wore his white T-shirt and blue jeans. He loved running. If he wasn't running, he would be doing flips or jumping around. In the city he loved he always went out exercising every day, and everyone knew him as the happiest boy in town.

One day he was running and tripped over a book called Surfer Flips. He picked it up and he ran home to read it. After he read it he felt a little bit weird and sleepy.

The next day Axel turned on the news. It was breaking news that there was a new villain in town called Hit the Target, or Hit, for short. He never missed a shot!

So Axel didn't go out for a run that day just to be safe, but instead took his surfer flips back outside to the back garden to try and learn how to do some new moves.

Just as he was getting the hang of all the instructions in the book, Axel felt the ground start to shake. It was Hit ready to jump down and blast Axel. But all of a sudden, Axel dodged a blast.

“How did I miss?” said Hit.

And Axel turned into a superhero, because his book really had magic powers, and he felt so cool.

Axel all of a sudden was able to blast Hit with water. Hit decided to bring out his biggest gun and Axel was doomed.

But then the unexpected happened. A superhero surfer came out from the book as well to help Axel! He used his magic surfboard and together they beat Hit! The whole town was so happy to have their city back and Axel and his new surfer friend became the heroes of the city!
