New Volunteer Training Session

“C’mon Owen, you have to try!” Buster the Mouse looked down to where Owen was hiding behind the teapot. The little onion quivered.
Buster put his hands on his skinny, furry hips and looked at Owen sternly.
“Take off that hat for a minute and get jumping!”
“I don’t want to try,” said Owen. “You know how long I’ve wanted to be in the Olympics but I know I can’t do it. Not with everybody looking at me.”
“But there’s no-one in this kitchen, so go on, do a long jump off the table.”
Owen looked around. Suddenly, even the toaster had eyes, the kettle had eyes, and the ketchup bottle didn’t look like it believed in Owen at all!
“Ready,” said Buster. “Steady…Go!”
