Write Clubbers invited to write stories based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
2017 is the 25th anniversary of the Republic of Ireland signing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. To celebrate this, the Irish Times will publish a special supplement on 20th November featuring writing by twenty five teenagers based on the themes of the Convention.
Fighting Words, Dublin, has invited Fighting Words Belfast to take part. Members of the weekly Write Club at the Duncairn, aged 13-18 have been invited to contribute.
Stories can be in any form – prose, poetry, script, graphic fiction…and incorporate themes such as homelessness, bullying, education, abuse, mental health, racism, sexual orientation, or freedom of speech and thought.
The supplement will go out with every copy of the newspaper and there will also be 80,000 copies of it delivered free to secondary schools all over the country, including Northern Ireland.
