Calling all youth clubs! We are seeking four groups to receive a year of free Fighting Words NI workshops, residentials and more. Our branch of the Youth Action NI 'Shared Agenda for Peace' project is now going NI-wide under a new name, "Peace by Piece".
Peace by Piece is a free creative writing project for young people aged 11-25 across Northern Ireland. Whether its podcasting, comic book writing, journaling, novel writing or something else, we have a creative writing project for you! We will be working with youth groups once a month for a full year to develop young people’s creative writing skills, confidence, and wellbeing.
The project will also pair together groups from different social and cultural backgrounds to progress peace and connection in our increasingly diverse communities. On top of all that, we’ll also be offering free training opportunities and qualifications to the youth group’s volunteers and leaders to keep the creative and cultural growth going long after the project ends.
The core themes of the project are:
1. Developing the People
We will provide:
Creative writing workshops for young people which develop confidence, creativity, and communication skills
OCN training opportunities for staff and volunteers on a range of skills and knowledge for youth work
2. Developing the Practice:
We will work with the youth group leaders and volunteers to develop an interactive youth led programme, social action and a residential all through the lens of creative writing, leaving you with knowledge, skills, and frameworks to continue the same practices with your group for years to come.
3. Developing the Organisation
We will provide committee support on governance and inclusion to ensure that the positive impact we make together is as profound and long-lasting as possible.

- Small Grants opportunities
- Youth Achievement Awards
The timeline and content of the workshop delivery have room to be tailored to your groups needs to make it as accessible and useful as possible.
