Fighting Words have set up a new club for Irish speakers aged 13-18, or any young person interested in writing through Irish!
Club Cleite will run for 6 weeks from 20th April–25th May 2023, for teenagers aged 13-18. It’s a weekly one-hour session which will run from 5pm every Thursday, and then move to once a month over the summer holidays.
The sessions will focus on providing the time and space to write, along with guidance and personalised feedback. They will involve prompts and exercises, as well as games and chats. It’s open to anyone with an interest in writing, whether you have had something published before or are dipping your toe in the water!
Members of Club Cleite will be able to write in any genre, whether it's poetry, short stories, a novel, graphic fiction, plays, screenplays, and all and any scribbling in between!
The club is island-wide, and young people from across the island are encouraged to sign up. It will be a chance to meet other young writers, as well as to gain advice and experiences from our writing mentors.
