Big Thank you to Business in the Community

The Fighting Words Belfast team would like to say a massive thank-you to all the Business in the Community members who kindly contributed to the project at the awards ceremony in the Waterfront Hall last Thursday.

The generous donations raised during the raffle of six handwritten framed artworks containing 'first words' pieces by Northern Irish writers and a set of nine signed novels by NI author David Park totalled £4,288.

The money raised will help give children in Northern Ireland a positive grounding in literacy by access to free creative writing workshops. The project will animate the civic spirit through a substantial volunteering programme and will achieve a  cross-community and city-wide engagement through shared workshops at Skainos and Duncairn Cultural Centre.

Young at Art, Fighting Words Dublin, Skainos and the 174 Trust have come together to realise this project. Its patrons include Glenn  Patterson, Roddy Doyle, Nick Hornby and Dave Eggers.
